Nigredo (2023)

NIGREDO is total blackness. For alchemists it is the first of three steps of alchemical transformation. Nigredo is death, putrefaction, melancholy and chaos. The state of decomposition where the body is purified of its earthly parts and is reduced to its essential matter that will allow it to re-emerge in a superior way.
Putrefaction is necessary for a new beginning.
Life is a circle of death and birth.
This is how a personal experience becomes a work of Art:
Without falling into exaggerated self-reference, Nigredo proposes, through autofiction and testimony, to transform a personal experience into an artistic work.
NIGREDO invites the spectator to witness a deep transformation: The great actress has not been able to perform the role, therefore she must be replaced by her stage assistant, who has not acted in years, and who decides to tell the causes of this. In a raw and apparently real way, the public becomes involved and complicit in this story that moves in the limits of reality and fiction.
Finally, the stage assistant will interpret the fiction: the story of a cleaning woman at the municipal pool —Mrs. Chelita—also abused, but in another time and space. Thus we will visualize how violence against women cross all social classes, and we will immerse ourselves in the story of the cleaning lady and her obsession with mushrooms and the dream world. We will travel to the catharsis of his Nigredo, connecting the concepts of death, putrefaction and fungi with the possibility of transforming: giving his own body as food to the kingdom of putrefaction, giving the fungi the possibility of proliferating, and thus finding the connections to a new life.
Nigredo is a metaphor that delves into the infinite cycle of death as a starting point, where everything is transformed, finding the true meaning of existence, in order to be reborn and encourage others to make visible and transmute the spaces of perpetuated abuse and violence in today's society.
