Jorge González is Dead (2009)

2009jorge.jpg

Jorge González, a Chilean musician, is dying. He doesn’t want to sing The dance of the left overs any more, because he is not a left over. In the play, a television show becomes a trial. The public can judge the singer or the journalist, meanwhile the playwright condemns Chile. With an acid dialogue, the arguments of González try to defeat the journalist. In that battle, the two characters founds some complicity, but with the permanent risk of shred between both of them. In his role, Pablo Schwarz seems to say: it is not easy to be a rockstar, but is not worst than the total anonymity.

The play relates the concepts of loneliness and democracy. These are the lights of the new Chile. This is the funeral of the country that could have been, but wasn’t. This is all the joy you will have, no more. He is singing upon a glass roof and she has a monologue that tries to let down like a hammer.
